Dear Onkyo,

I want you to know that I'm still in love with you.  But unfortunately, your cheating ways have done me wrong too many times.  It is only for my self respect that I have to say goodbye to you.

I know that you don't think that I know, but I do.  There's something terribly wrong with you Onkyo.  You were my best friend, do you remember the times when we'd make the connections and you'd always be right there for me through thick and thin?  Remember, when we'd do a Zone 2 and you'd gladly chip in and do your part? I don't know what it is, but you've changed Onkyo.

You need help. And by help I mean professional help.  You need somebody who can look deep inside your soul, pull out your HDMI service, and put you all back together. But that can't be me. I don't have the hear to do it anymore.

I always thought you were the prettiest girl on the block. Your GUI was fantastic, and the way you put out was incredible.

I have came to your rescue no less than 6 times in as many months.  First it's HDMI Baluns that you don't like, then it's intermittent audio through HDMI, and now your picture has just went "wonky".  I'm sorry but I can no longer do it.

If you don't have enough respect for yourself to put yourself together before you leave the house, then I can't be around you.

So Goodbye to you Onkyo.  I'll never be back.

I guess Onkyo's prettier sister, Integra, is also off limits, for the same reasons.

Is Integra actually different (better made) or does it just have more make-up and a different dress?

I think they're essentially the same units, maybe a few watts per channel more here or there, but I think the components are generally the same. But I can't say for sure, and I'm not taking any chances.

At this point, I guess I'm just going to use Denon temporarily until I can find a new "go to".

Why can't anyone manage to make a good, robust, reliable, piece of equipment with ip and serial control, and a nice gui.  It's not rocket science.  Just make the thing work as it is intended to work.

Pioneer Elite's been good to us. IP/232 on pretty much all but the lowest model, zero failures so far for us. We're dumping Onkyo as well. We've had a unit in for repair for almost 2 months and we just found out the needed part won't be in until November. Shockingly it's an HDMI issue. Also shockingly is we're swapping it out for an Elite just so we can be done with it.

+1

I'm falling out of love with Onkyo and Integra as the years pass. I'm finding Pioneer and Yammy doing a comparable job at a great price point.
I keep pointing my remote at the turntable but, it never advances to the next track.

Do you know anything about the Pioneer 1021 and 1121?  I just watched the videos on their site.  Looks interesting and very ipad friendly, good for us since we use Bitwise.

Anybody?

This thread could have been named "From a Hasbeen to a Hasbeen."

A friend who designs speakers, GOOD ONES, for a living says that the Integra units sound better than, frinstance, my go-to, Yamaha.

Of course, Yamaha itself is controversial for some reason among people who don't criticize its sound. I never understood that.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Both are very good AVRs. I have used them both. I would recommend the vsx-1021-k for the IP control.
